The Booking Funnel Goes Live
For most of development, a property’s occupancy was a single calibrated number. It was correct — but it hid the story. This update breaks occupancy into a believable funnel: market interest, search volume, conversion, cancellations, and repeat guests.
The hard rule was that the new funnel had to reproduce the existing, tuned economy exactly. So we built it as a decomposition, proven by an automated agreement test that holds the funnel within 3% of the calibrated occupancy across every listing and demand window.
On top of that foundation we layered real behavior: planners cancel more than last-minute guests, well-reviewed listings earn loyal repeat guests, and — crucially — listings now compete for the same demand pool. Out-position the typical listing and you win occupancy share; lag behind and you lose it. The competition is market-conserving, so the world never inflates.
